T-Minus 9 Days

In 9 days, I’ll be leaving home to live in a foreign country. Though I’ve been impatiently anticipating this, it somehow still managed to creep up on me. With all the free time I’ve had, I can’t figure out how I still have so much to do. I have no plans of how to spend my time in Reykjavik, and still need to email that couchsurfer back to make sure I’ll have a place to stay. I have to begin packing 7 months worth of junk into a single suitcase (if at all possible) to avoid extra baggage fees on stupid JetBlue. I should probably plan at least one lesson, but I’m not going to. I’m also not planning on bringing any sort of teaching materials or aids with me. I have to somehow make a couple hundred dollars before I leave to pay for my traveling and living expenses before October, if I want to follow the amazingly awesome and detailed budget spreadsheet I made.

I also need to have a little fun. You know, I need to see all of my friends before I leave. I at least need to see the important ones, anyway. Hah. I’ve been missing out on a lot of fun this Summer (concerts, bars, little puma affairs, etc.) while trying to save some cash. Now, with only 9 days left, I feel like I can splurge a bit. Of course I shouldn’t, but I think I will. I want to do a bit of celebrating and bon voyage-ing before I leave. I might regret it in a month when I’m struggling to pay bills, but it won’t kill me. I think.

I know that a lot of assistants have less than helpful contacts, so I’m really thankful for her. Minh (my lady) and I have been talking about meeting for lunch in Nantes since we’ll finally have the pleasure of living in the same city (or same timezone, for that matter). I’ve found a couple of assistants who I’ll be crossing paths with on the way to Nantes, which really excited me because I feel uneasy about the whole arrival process. Things are going. Except me. I’m not really making any progress, unless you call watching movies progress. That’s alright, though. I’ll be ready. Tomorrow, packing commences.
